Swansea Formula Student
What is Formula Student?
Formula Student, run by the institute of mechanical engineers(IMECHE), is the most established educational engineering competition in Europe. The competition aims to encourage and develop young engineers with the skills they will need in industry. The challenge combines practical engineering experience with business and project management skills. Thus testing a teams ability to create a high-performance race car while considering its feasibility in industry.
The event itself consists of static and dynamic events. The dynamic events are made up of an acceleration(75m straight), A skidpad(A figure of 8 course), an Endurance(22km with multiple laps) and a sprint(1km single lap which gives a qualifying position for the endurance). The maximum points to be gained from dynamic events is 675.
The static events consist of an engineering design event, cost and sustainability analysis, business presentation, and a technical inspection of the car for a maximum of 325 points.

Who are Swansea Racing
Swansea racing previously Swansea University Racing Engineering(SURE) has been designing, building and racing cars since 2001. The team competes in events against British and European universities, primarily at FSUK in Silverstone.
Students of all engineering disciplines and levels work alongside our academic and industrial partners to create a single-seater open wheel race car. It is designed to comply with the rules and requirements of the Formula Student competition.
The team values both dynamic and static events, striving to be competitive across the board. Always evolving and improving, Swansea Racing represents some of the most driven students of Swansea University.
Our Senior Team
Warwick Is in his 3rd year at swansea university. Studying mechanical engineering and improving his knowledge of vehicle dynamics in his spare time to improve and help the team .
Charlie is a 2nd year mechanical engineering Student. His ambitions for his time on the team are to bring Swansea Racings best ever result at FSUK. He and his team work tirelessly to accomplish this
Katie is a 2nd year marine biology student, Despite not being from an engineering course she rose to head of operations through hard work and bringing results. She now is responsible for all the important behind the scenes work that allows the team to function.
